I won’t lie, I’m a real “in your face” kind of guy.
Just to be upfront, I’m never going to sugar coat things or beat around the bush and I’ll always tell you like it is.
My name is Travis Stoetzel and I’m all about hardcore strength and conditioning for performance. I’m writing for this website because I have an undying passion for serious training and I hope that with what I have to offer, gives you the results you’re looking for.
For my first blog post contribution of many to come to RivalFitness.com, I thought that it would only be right to talk about the most important thing in regards to achieving your goals.
While I LOVE to talk about hardcore workouts such as training with sandbags, kettlebells, heavy barbells, or just using your own bodyweight to build muscle and strength, it’s important I talk about this “one thing” first.
When it comes to training whether that be for sports performance, building muscle, shredding fat, or just training to train there’s one thing that you must have in order for your training to be the absolute best.
Before I get into this one thing, let me just say that what I’m about to talk about should be used in all facets of your life, not just with physical training. If you can learn to harness this one thing and apply it to all the other areas of your life as well, you’ll see that the results you have in anything whether that be within your job, your family life, your finances, whatever, they will all simply accelerate ten fold.
So, what it this “one thing” I talk about?
Well it’s none other then your mindset. The right mindset that is
When you discover how to use your mind properly, you can achieve anything in this world.
Now since we’re talking about getting some extreme fitness results in regards to building more lean muscle and brute strength all while getting lean, the type of mindset you need and the one that I want you to have in this regard is an Aggressive Mindset.
I’ll get into more about this “Aggressive Mindset” in a second, but before I do I want to talk about something’s that really pain me inside when I see them occur within the gym.
#1 – Half-Assin’ It”
Something I see all too often, especially when people train is that they train without purpose. They train while simply just going thru the motions, or in better terms, “half-assing it”.
There’s no fire, passion, drive, or most importantly, INTENSITY. If you’re one of these people that trains with a mindset like this, you are robbing yourself short of some absolutely amazing results that are just waiting to happen!
Don’t “half-ass it”.
In fact don’t half-ass it with anything you do in life! If there’s anything in this world worth doing, it’s worth doing right!
#2 – Excuses!
Another thing that just eats me up inside like none other is when people share their excuses with me or use excuses for when they don’t get something done.
First of all, I don’t want to hear about it as I’m sure you don’t want to hear about it as well. No one likes listening to excuses!
The best thing to do is just to “J.G.S.D” (more on this in a sec).
Don’t resort to having to come up with excuses as to why you didn’t do something or make it happen. Accept the responsibility that you didn’t get it done and look forward towards the immediate the future where you can erase your excuse and make things happen.
BTW, J,G.S.D is an acronym for “Just Get Sh*t Done!” and if you approach things in life with this mentality, especially with your training and fitness, things will skyrocket for you.
So, what’s the cure to these two things that are all too common when it comes to people not achieving their fitness and strength goals?
What’s the way around these barriers and to faster results you ask?
Training Aggressive is the answer.
What “Training Aggressive” means to me is training with PURPOSE and training with the DESIRE and FIRE to accomplish the goals you have set out to achieve.
But, wait! You do have goals don’t you?
Goals are another very important part of your success in regards to achieving the results you want. For this, you need to have goals set so you know exactly where it is you want to go!
If you don’t have goals properly set, you’ll have no direction and without direction, you’ll have no focus.
Training Aggressive requires that you have focus. Because when you come into train, you need to come into your training session laser focused in on getting yourself better each and every time.
You can’t be making up excuses or half-assin’ your training sessions any longer and from now on, you need to treat your training sessions like their all out war!
It’s you vs. your workout session.
You should be keyed in on breaking previous records from past training sessions each and every time you train and only when you do this will you have purpose, drive, and fire.
This purpose, drive, and fire will accelerate your results forward like nothing else imaginable.
No supplement of special training program will ever do this for you if you don’t have the right mindset..
Just think, if you can honestly get yourself to “Train Aggressive” each and every session, how much better your results will get!
For now, I don’t want you to worry about any specific training program or anything like that at this time. All I want you to focus in on right now is your mindset and getting this mindset locked in on “Training Aggressive”.
You do this and it’s game over!
Make sure to write up yourself some strong and descriptive goals of what you want to accomplish. This will help bring you more clarity for what it is you truly want to achieve.
Take your time with this process and don’t half-ass it ;) Really dig deep into your soul and figure out what it is you truly want it and why.
When you figure this out, give yourself a hard deadline for when you want this done and J.G.S.D.!
